Live (Zoom) Format
Who teaches the live courses?
The authors of Piano Safari, Katherine Fisher and Julie Knerr Hague, teach the courses. In the Fall of 2023, Katherine will teach the Piano Safari Friends class. Julie will teach the Level 1 class.
What platform is used?
All courses will take place on Zoom.
When are the courses held?
This varies for each specific course. Visit the course page for more information about the schedule. The courses are held at different times throughout the day to accomodate for the different time zones of participants.
How long are the classes?
Each class is 75 minutes in length.
What content is covered?
In addition to covering each unit of the books in detail, the authors will discuss general pedagogical topics such as lesson planning, group teaching, motivation, parental involvement, and the development of reading, rhythm, technique, and musicianship.
Are there any required materials?
Yes, the materials that correspond with the course are required. However, participants will receive a 30% discount on all orders placed on the Piano Safari website throughout the duration of the course.
What is the maximum enrollment for each course?
The courses have a maximum enrollment of 18.
If I miss a class, can the recordings be accessed later?
Yes, all classes will be recorded. If you miss a class, you will access to the recording.
Is there any homework?
The authors will provide assignments to enhance your learning experience. However, these are optional and not graded.
Can I join partway through the course?
If a course is underway but you would like to join, please contact . This will be assessed on a case by case basis and is dependent on the current course enrollment.
What is the cancellation policy?
The Piano Safari Pedagogy Institute reserves the right to cancel any planned course due to insufficient enrollment. In the event of a course cancellation, all registered participants will be contacted via email and offered the choice of transferring enrollment to a different course or receiving a refund via the original payment method.
Withdrawals and refunds from Live (Zoom) Courses are only permitted in exceptional circumstances. If a participant would like to cancel enrollment, please email . Participants who cancel prior to a week before the starting date of the course will receive a full refund. Participants who cancel by the end of the third class session will receive a refund of half tuition. After the date of the third class session, no refunds will be issued. The 30% discount on Piano Safari materials for course participants will expire on the date the refund is processed or at the end of the third session, whichever date is earlier.

The videos are hosted on an unlisted Vimeo channel. You will receive the links to these videos upon registration.

No, but the authors will occasionally provide suggestions for further learning and exploration of the concepts.
What is the refund policy?
There are no refunds for the pre-recorded format.
