Caroline Hixson |

Caroline Hixson (NCTM) holds a Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy and Performance Studies with the honor of Pi Kappa Lambda from the University of Idaho (2008), and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Webster University (2004). She was also awarded a High School Diploma from the National Guild Of Piano Teachers (2000). Her principal teachers include Prof. Daniel Schene, Dr. Steven Spooner, Dr. Jay Mauchley, and Dr. Peter Henderson.

Caroline began her teaching career in 1997. She joined the piano area at Webster University’s Department of Music in 2014, where she teaches applied and class piano, is a collaborative pianist for the instrumental department, and is co-director of the Webster University Piano Camp. Caroline joined the piano area at Saint Louis University’s Department of Music in 2022, where she teaches applied and class piano. She is also an active collaborative pianist, church musician, and adjudicator in the Saint Louis area.

Caroline previously lived in New Orleans, where she maintained a private studio as well as a studio at Loyola’s Preparatory Program. In addition to teaching private lessons at Loyola Prep, she taught group piano classes and accompanied both college and preparatory ballet classes. She maintained an active accompanying schedule in New Orleans, and was a regular adjudicator of competitions and festivals in the Southeast Louisiana area. During that time she served as a member of various executive boards and served as chair of the Rally competition.

Caroline is is a current member of various organizations, including Music Teachers National Association (national and state levels), National Federation of Music Clubs, and the American College of Musicians. Caroline founded and chairs the Arch Cup festival. She served two terms as President of SLAMTA and two terms of Chair of the MMTA District VI Auditions. Caroline is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano (NCTM).
