I am a classically-trained pianist with 34 years of study and over 15 years of private teaching experience. I attended the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree with concentrations in clarinet and piano. In a desire to use my musical skills to help individuals in need, I decided to pursue studies in music therapy. I graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX with a Master of Music Therapy degree. During my music therapy studies I gained proficiency in the guitar, voice, and various ethnic musical instruments such as the west African drums. I have been using the Piano Safari method for the past 5 years and have enjoyed watching my students flourish in their piano study. I seek to engage students with a variety of teaching modalities such as improvisation, composition, and theory games.
