Last Frontier Piano Studio offers piano lessons for Beginners to Early Advanced levels, advanced students are determined on a case by case basis. Our focus is on classical repertoire with an emphasize Russian Piano Technique, with a well-rounded approach that includes other genres such as jazz, blues, movie themes, contemporary pedagogical repertoire, hymns, and ragtime. We primarily offer lessons at our home studio in Soldotna, as well as through Zoom. Our curriculum includes note reading, music vocabulary/language, major/minor finger patterns, intervallic reading, memorization, rote playing, all forms of piano technique, chord structure and harmonization, music history, pedal technique, pattern recognition, music theory (beginner to college prep), ear training, and transposing. We hold recitals twice a year. Students are also expected to perform at Fall Piano Adjudication in November, and National Federation of Music: Spring Festival for Performance and Theory Testing. Materials will be selected based on the student’s interests, learning styles, and overall goals.
Our lesson durations are 30 minutes for beginners, 45 minutes for intermediate students, and 60 minutes for advanced students. Intermediate and advanced students will also study the four time periods, including baroque, romantic, 20th century, and classical time periods, as well as theory, scales, and technical etudes.
