Julian Lam is a National Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) based in Las Vegas, with a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music in piano performance from UNLV. During his years of keyboard studies, he was a winner of the James Huntzinger concerto competition and performed with the UNLV symphony orchestra.
Julian’s passion for music started at a young age, inspired by his grandparents who were both Chinese Opera stars in Guang Zhou, China. Julian’s musical journey began with singing Chinese opera music at the age of three, and he later went on to study piano at the age of five, learning from renowned teachers in Hong Kong.
In high school, Julian studied vocal music with Richard Lee, a UNR master graduate, who inspired him to participate in various musical activities such as high school musicals, honor choir, and all-state choir. Julian’s talent and dedication won him numerous awards, including an Honorary Award from the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, and he was also a certified Oxfam young pianist in Hong Kong. After graduating from UNLV, Julian continued teaching music lessons and accompanied various local theater productions for musicals in Las Vegas. He currently teaches piano and voice, is co-chair of the NFMC music festival, and is also the official accompanist for the Las Vegas Harmony Chorus. Julian has been an active member of LVMTA since 2004 and has served on the LVMTA Board as VP of newsletter. He was co-chair for the 2020 MTNA competition. His students have participated in numerous LVMTA events over the years. With his wealth of experience and love for music, Julian is an accomplished music educator who is passionate about inspiring the next generation of musicians.
